Tussenland II
Suze van Miltenburg & Stieneke Oeverbeek
Where does land end and water begin? In Flevoland that border has never been self-evident. The reeds were once used to reclaim new land on the water. In this work of art, the same reed is given a new role. A series of small boats takes it across the Weerwater, like a silent expedition through the landscape. Along the way, the meaning changes: what once helped create land now floats on water. A wonderful image that raises questions about a landscape that is constantly changing. With this work of art, the artists look back on the spectacular beginning of the creation of Flevoland as a landscape that is now a living environment.
This artwork was developed in 2024 on behalf of the Alluminous Light Art Festival and has been part of the permanent collection of artworks in the public space of the Municipality of Almere since 2025.
